Recording new songs

We spent most of last week at New, Improved Recording recording basic tracks for the new record. Things went very well, and many thanks to Eli for being such a great engineer and all around excellent person. We worked on a lot of songs (at least 12), and I think we fixed a lot of problems that had been plaguing some of the arrangements. We also ate surprisingly tasty tofu sandwiches from the Black Muslim Bakery. I can’t say when things will be done, but hopefully we can get things mostly wrapped up in the next few months. Am I being crazy for even saying that? I dunno.

Oh, and we’re playing a show with Scrabbel this Friday night, Dec 22nd (see the Shows page for more info) — it’ll be our last show for awhile so please please please do come and say hello. We’re supposed be filmed for some MTV thing so it’d be nice to have friendly faces in the audience.

bay bridged, sf weekly

Ok, so I need to work on my interview skillz but Goh and Sadie crack me up on this, our first podcast interview. It was conducted on the 29th floor of the Marriott at 4th and Mission inside the View Lounge, where you can get a lovely eyeful of the Bay Bridge and other parts of our rather photogenic city and also pay $10 for a gin and tonic. Thanks to Ben and Christian for being such fun interviewers!

Also, we got a nice little blurb in the SF Weekly this week for our upcoming show next week:

SF Weekly Blurb

I just hope we never get classified as “sad bastard music” is all….

benefit for playing in fog, sept 6

we’re playing a benefit for Playing In Fog on Sept 6 with good friends Tomihira and the fine folks in 20 Minute Loop, who we’ve been wanting to play with for a long while. playing in fog was fined by the city when flyers for a playing in fog show were posted improperly — even though playing in fog folks didn’t post those flyers and always advises folks against improper posting practices. how fair is that?

oh! and we’ll be in a bay bridged podcast coming up in a few weeks! ben and christian of bay bridged were much fun, and much fun to chat with.

on a very ‘nother note, i spent a couple weeks on the east coast this year. it was the first time i noticed the little clams burying themselves at low tide after the water rolls in and carries them along, dropping them off somewhere new. the foots come out and the siphons show up and zip! they’re under the sand again. it makes a person a little hesitant to take walks on the beach though, regardless of being told that my feet are just part of the circle of life. little clams. so cute. so squishy. so everywhere.
